Six Generations of Farmers
1947 was the year my grandfather left Kansas and moved his family to Colorado. They settled on a farm east of Greeley right along the South Platte River. Michelle and I, along with our seven children, farm within a mile of that original farm. Besides having farming in our heritage, there were other things that influenced us on this journey to become organic growers.
One oldest son has battled autism. Through our research, we came across dietary interventions that have helped him. We became very aware of how much food in the grocery stores is not always as it appears. Reading food labels became a way of life, and we were astonished at how many harmful things like chemicals, additives, and preservatives are in our foods.
It became essential to go back to the past and make most of our meals from scratch. From there, with our farming background, it was an easy step to grow and preserve more of our food. In our efforts to take control of our food and our health, we became growers of pure and healthy food. Hope our journey helps yours!
